Network security analysts design, implement, and manage cyber and information security systems. They monitor networks for any suspicious or hostile activity and take measures, such as installing firewalls, to defend against malicious attacks on systems. Network Security Analyst generally works as part of a larger IT team.

The demand for network security analysts is very high. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects employment growth of 18% by 2024 for all information security analysts, including network security analysts. This will mean 14,800 additional jobs.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Network Security Analyst

Monitor networks

Report safety concerns to management

The network security analyst works with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to communicate the status of information security, report potential risks, and suggest ways to improve security.

Network security analysts must keep abreast of emerging threats and vulnerabilities in IT security. They conduct research and participate in conferences, professional association meetings, and technical symposia to learn about the latest technological advances in information security.
