Duties and Responsibilities of the Implementation Project Manager

Implementation project managers lead projects where new software, equipment or technical systems are implemented. They manage a team that specializes in implementation and ensures that all client needs are met during the implementation process. This is a qualified position that requires extensive experience in related issues as well as advanced education. Implementation project managers usually work in an office, but often travel when new projects start to different clients. Implementation project managers usually work full time and often work overtime to meet deadlines as projects are completed. They report directly to project managers and work closely with senior client management

Duties and Responsibilities of the Implementation Project Manager

There are no two project managers at the same time, as specific skills vary between employer and employer. However, after analyzing the posting of online jobs, we identified a few basic tasks and responsibilities for the job:

Participate in contract negotiations

Before starting a new project, a contract must be created between the customer and the company providing the new products. As project implementers work directly with the client during project life, they often participate in contract negotiations to ensure that both parties agree on reasonable terms related to project periods and actual services provided.

Evaluate the client's needs

After a project is started, but before implementation begins, project managers are responsible for assessing the client's exact needs and developing a plan to meet those needs. This assessment often takes the form of multiple meetings with client department heads and other stakeholders.

Manage a team that specializes in implementation

Implementation project managers are responsible for managing a team of implementation experts, who develop new software or configure a client for a new device. They make sure the teams are involved and that team times are up.

Manage conflict between internal groups and the client

Sometimes during a project, conflicts arise between internal teams and the client. Implementing project managers is responsible for managing this conflict and ensuring that the issue is resolved before the quality of the project is compromised.

Project progress report

Implementation project managers keep in touch with key stakeholders to report on the overall state of the project. These reports typically address issues that the groups encountered with the client and the other party.
